Lately, Nokia has been trying all their efforts to stay right on track. At the moment, they are giving their hopes on their new high-end Ozo VR camera. They are opening a major road for expansion as they are planning on bringing their product to China. It has been announced by Nokia today that the 360-degree camera is equipped with ready-to-go stitching and production pipelines which will be available to the Chinese market by September this year. The Ozo VR camera is currently available in the US and Europe.
According to The Verge, Nokia has announced a new price point as part of the deal. The company is offering $15,000 discount from the camera's original price at $60,000 to some early users. The company also said that the Ozo VR camera which is being sold on retail right now on both UK and US with $45,000 and €40,000 respectively will be the new normal rate. By that, it is expected to have an equivalent pricing rate on China.
According to Yibada, Nokia Technologies president, Ramzi Haidamus, said that Ozo is a tool similar to RED's line of cameras or Arri Alexa. It is considered as a professional production tool in line with those similar type of groups. He also added that the professional camera rental houses are the primary potential target market for the product. Guido Voltolina, Ozo's head of presence capture, said that the discounted early adopter strategy is performing unexpectedly regarding on the sales.
He also added that the program allows the company to expand their avenue in China which is considered to be one of the biggest target market all over the globe. Currently, China's VR market is still at developing stage. However, Voltolina said that it will par with some of the biggest VR markets in the world in time.
On the other hand, Nokia is exploring more options to extend their services throughout the industry especially the VR world. Experts said that Nokia's expansion to China is a smart move for Ozo to gain a strong foundation before the arrival of other competitors.
