Overwatch Update: Blizzard Grants Players A Last Shot At Summer Games Event, Plus Update On Recent DDOS Attacks

With the Summer Olympic Games in Rio bidding farewell a few days ago, the Summer Games event of the popular game from Blizzard, Overwatch, will also be gone too soon. However, for those players who are still planning on participating, it is not too late to play. Blizzard announces in a forum post that the Summer Games Event will be ending today at 4PM ET/ 7PM ET.

According to Gamespot, after the clock hits, all rewards and bonuses from the event such as loot boxes, cosmetic items and the soccer-style Lucioball mode will be removed permanently. Lucky for those players who acquired unopened loot boxes from Summer Games, you can open them every time as no timeframe was issued by Blizzard Entertainment. However, the company pointed out that the earned or purchased loot boxes after the said event will contain standard items only.

In return, Blizzard thanks its players for participating on the event and hoping to continue their support on the following seasonal events. They also promised their fans to keep the game improving season after season. As of now, there are no further announcement from Blizzard about a new seasonal event. But updates will be up soon if an event will be introduced.

On the other news, Blizzard have been constantly hit by DDoS attack affecting all of their games' server. According to Gamespot, the DDoS attack greatly affecting the last day of Overwatch's Summer Games Event. Apparently, Blizzard has been doing all their efforts on fighting this several attacks and humbly asks their players understanding on the inconvenience cost. Based on the updated reports, the issue has been resolved and the DDOS attacks had been ceased.

Similar DDOS attacks have been occurring earlier this month which affected the other game's server including Overwatch. While the last attacker was identified, apparently, the current attacker of this recent attacks has yet to be known. However, Blizzard reassures to fight this attacks for the comfort of their players and the game itself.
