Recently, America's famous blogger and author, Robert Scoble posted a rumor on his Google+ feed that Andy Rubin, the face of Android, was preparing to leave Google to join a stealth-mode startup called CloudCar, a company that even the ultra-connected Scoble says he knows nothing about, reported Verge.
However, Google Sr. VP, denied the rumors of leaving the company through his Twitter profile and at the same time took the opportunity to point out that there are now over 900,000 Android devices activated daily, up moderately from the 850,000-per-day figure he had previously mentioned at MWC 2012 in February.
Andy Rubin has been the face (and father) of Android for some time now. This recent information from the executive shows a bit of a slowdown in growth from last year. But that happens with any rapidly growing product. Back in 2010 when daily handset activations were 300,000, an increase of 200,000 daily activations to 500,000 a day represented a 67% increase. That same increase now would be a much more mature sounding 22% rise.
Also on the following link, which is his own Google+ account, Ruby has posted an explanation on how the CloudCar occupies space in his Los Altos incubator, and that is apparently how Scoble's rumor got started. "See you on the 27th," he concluded, pointing to I/O's kickoff.
