Britney Spears will be in the limelight once again, only this time it’s her life story that will take over. That’s right! The Pop Princess will have her life story featured in a two-hour biopic to be aired in Lifetime.
The TV movie entitled “Britney” will chart the singer’s rise to fame and highlight her life and career’s highs and lows. It will also show her on and off relationship with Justin Timberlake as well as her high-profile marriages to Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline. Fans can also relive her successful comeback after a much-publicized breakdown.
Lifetime described the upcoming telepic “Britney” as a “tumultuous true story” of the singer’s rise to fame, fall from grace and triumphant resurrection.
Actress Natasha Bassett of “Hail, Caesar!” was chosen to portray the titular role. In an interview with Vogue last May, Basset said she wanted to play “complex” characters.
“When you create something that truly affects people – whether it makes them laugh, cry or get really ticked off, whatever it may be...” Basset told Vogue “– there’s nothing better than trying to make some sense of the human condition through different complex characters and being able to share that with other people.”
“Britney” will be produced by Asylum Entertainment. It will be directed by Leslie Libman and written by Anne-Marie Hess.
However, Us Weekly reported that Britney Spears will not be affiliated or contributing to the project “in any way, shape or form... nor does it have her blessing."
While waiting for the said biopic, fans can check out Britney Spears’ ninth studio album entitled “Glory” to be released via Apple Music on Friday. She is also slated to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
Lifetime’s “Britney” production begins in September at Vancouver. The movie will premiere in 2017.
