Pokemon Go has recently been updated with the Appraise feature. A number of players, however, are confused over the remarks given by the team leaders.
The Appraise function allows players to submit Pokemon for appraisal of their "Individual Values" or IV for short. The three team leaders, Blanche (Mystic), Candela (Valor) and Spark (Instinct) will make a short evaluation on the fighting capabilities of the Pokemon, according to Forbes.
Each Pokemon is Unique
Many Pokemon Go veterans are already aware that each Pokemon is different. For example, two Charmander may have identical Combat Power (CP) but that is where the similarities end. The Charmanders will likely differ in Hit Points (HP), attack and defense stats.
This means that a weaker Pokemon may have the potential to defeat stronger opponent based on the three stats. The Appraise feature will help players pick which Pokemon to groom and evolve for gym battles.
Deciphering Team Leaders' Appraisal
Unlike an IV calculator, Pokemon Go players will have to decipher the meaning behind their team leader's words. Basically, the player will only have to pay attention to the "Overall Appraisal", according to Gamepress.
Each team leader is limited to four standard comments regarding the IV percentage level of the player's Pokemon. When the team leader has nothing but praises for the Pokemon, its IV percentage is usually good. If a team leader says that it is unlikely to win in battle, that's already more than enough cue for the trainers to know that their Pokemon's IV percentage is bad.
The team leaders will also make a comment on the Attack, HP and Defense stat of the Pokemon under appraisal.
Pokemon Size Analysis
The team leaders will also make a comment regarding the size of the player's Pokemon. There is currently four size classification in the game which includes extra small, small, large and extra-large.
