WWDC 2012: Apple Revamps MacBook Line; Launches Next Generation Pro With Retina Display

Apple has launched a host of new devices and software at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference that kicked-off on June 11.

The Cupertino tech giant on Monday launched 10 new models for the MacBook line, of which MacBook Air has received a new size version, MacBook Pro got refurbishments and a new line of MacBook Pro, which according to its creators is "the greatest Apple computer ever built."

Let's check out how Apple has worked on the different models of the MacBook devices:

MacBook Air

To start with the update of the new MacBook Air line, all we can say is that the Cupertino tech giant has maintained the updates rudimentary but added new processors, USB 3.0 and extended the storage capacity up to 512GB of storage. But the bad news for many Apple lovers is that the company has not introduced Retina Display.

While the next-generation MacBook Pro features a SD card reader, up to 768 gigabytes of hard drive storage, USB 3 and USB 2 ports, HDMI connection, an updated MagSafe power adapter connection and two Thunderbolt connections, it does not feature an optical drive.

As expected, the next-generation Pro is not cheap and the price for the base version starts from $2,199 and the model features 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

According to various source, all of this information related to the specs of MacBook line was already leaked before the event.

Like the Air device, Apple will also start shipping MacBook Pro with OS X Lion from today. For existing customers of a Mac, Apple has announced to provide a free copy of OS X Mountain Lion once it comes in the market.
