Great news for the T-mobile users who were waiting for the legitimate Ice Cream Sandwich update for their Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone! T-mobile, which is one of the major US carriers, is finally launching the Android 4.0 for the Galaxy S2 smartphone.
T-mobile has notified that the ICS update will not be a direct OTA update, rather the Galaxy S2 users will have to upgrade their phones using Kies software and a computer.
Users who already have Android 2.3.6 will have to download and install the Kies software onto their computers and then connect the Galaxy device via a USB cable and then accept the ICS update.
Note, if the Software has been pushed to the phone, users will receive prompts to download. But if it has not, user will receive a 'No Firmware' message.
Although the ICS update will not delete any of the existing data including contacts, messages and apps, it will restore the homescreen settings to factory default. It is recommended that the user should backup all the data before updating their devices with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich just to be safe.
