Surface Pro 4 Challenges the iPad Pro, Microsoft Wins With Heftier CPU And More

The rivalry between the two tech giants, Microsoft and Apple, has been undeniable even before the arrival of the Surface and iPad Pro tablets.

In fact, if you can remember back in 2006, Apple released a series of TV ads comparing itself to a Windows PC. The "Hi, I'm a Mac." and "..and I'm a PC." ads ran for some time and it characterized the capabilities of the two computer brands.

Now, 10 years later, it looks like Microsoft is doing the same thing to Apple with its new ad for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. The recently-released commercial for the Surface Pro 4 is a straightforward comparison between the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4, implying all of the Surface Pro 4's edge over the iPad Pro.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs. Apple iPad Pro Specs

Microsoft Surface Pro 4's ad used Cortana to 'talk' to Apple iPad Pro's Siri about the two device's similarities and computer-like capabilities.

However, it looks like the iPad Pro is inferior to the Surface Pro 4 in more ways than one. In fact, it is implied in the ad that the only computer-like feature of the iPad Pro is its new keyboard.

The Surface Pro 4 has super impressive specs including the Intel i7 processor, full Office features, track pad and external ports.

The iPad Pro on the other hand, is also a superb tablet in its own right. It may not be as near to being a computer as the Surface Pro 4 is, but it also comes with great specs.

This includes Apple's A9X chipset, 4 GB RAM, and as mentioned, a keyboard accessory. However, the iPad Pro may not be able to run the full Office and it only sticks to the app versions of them.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 VS Apple iPad Pro Conclusions

It is safe to conclude that the Surface Pro 4 is built with computer-like specs. The iPad Pro, on the other hand, is simply a powerhouse tablet. Depending on one's needs, both of these devices are great in their own rights.
