Since the beginning, we've been living in this ultimate rule in the zombie world: if you get bit, you turn into a zombie unless you cut the part of your body that got bit to prevent the virus from spreading. However, in the latest episode of "Fear The Walking Dead," someone apparently survived the zombie virus without amputating his body.
In the latest episode of "Fear The Walking Dead," we found out that Nick's newfound safe haven has a pretty little secret. Well, it sacrifices living humans to the zombies.
Luciana also revealed to Nick while they were out to bring back supplies, that the community follows the pharmacist Alejandro (Paul Calderon) because he was bitten by a zombie and never turned--he wasn't affected by the virus. None of the viewers or Nick thinks it's true until he spotted the bite marks.
On an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Fear The Walking Dead" showrunner David Erickson got to explain about this latest twist.
Erickson explained that this arc is a story about trust and faith. Everyone in the community knew about Alejandro even before the zombies started appearing so they trust him and his story (about not turning into a zombie) somehow became a legend among the members of the community so they "feel protected" with him as their leader.
Nick on the other hand is emotionally detached to a "father figure" ever since losing his father as a child so he finds the story harder to believe, Erickson explained.
The question is the authenticity of the story. Is that really a bite mark? Did someone actually saw him when he got bit? His character seems a little shady. For all we know he just made those marks himself and made it look like a zombie bite to make everyone in the community trust him. Well it's up for our heroine to use his instincts and uncover the truth.
