‘Days Of Our Lives’ News & Updates: Cancellation Reports Not True; Longest – Running TV Drama Nabs 2018 Renewal

“Days of Our Lives” continues its legacy of providing quality entertainment to its long time supporters on a global scale. NBC is keeping one of the world’s longest – running soap opera as evidenced by its recently renewed 51st season and an addition of one year.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that the renewal was made official by NBC.

“NBC is incredibly proud of the legacy of "Days of our Lives" and we couldn’t be more excited to bring its fans new stories for the 51st season,” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.

The daytime tv series celebrated its golden anniversary last November scoring an all time high rating. The unparalleled popularity of the show is mainly contributed by its ability to cover topics that tackle human interest in a bold and dramatic way.

“In a business where having a show remain on the air for two seasons is considered a success, what Days has achieved is extraordinary, Salke added.

Despite the massive success “Days of Our Lives” has earned for 5 decades, negative comments and ugly speculations continue to arise.

A recent report noted that the show’s home network decides to bring the curtain down for the cast and crew and the current season serves as the last installment of the drama show. This rumor rooted with the fans’ dissatisfaction of the storylines, hence a significant drop on the number of viewers is revealed by Soap Opera Network.

While this rumor remains a rumor until NBC or the showrunners make an official statement, putting an end to an icon in a television series is really heartbreaking. The show would not have lasted for five decades without the incredible performances of its characters, the heartfelt storylines and the healthy relationships they have blossomed with the production crew and to their avid fans.

For now, let’s keep our focus on the excitement that the 51st season bring us on weekdays.
