‘The Angry Birds Movie’ Sequel Film Now In The Works

And they're back! After a successful run in theater last May 2016, the creators are already planning the sequel for "The Angry Birds Movie."

"The Angry Birds Movie" as reported by Digital Trends, earned a total of $346.9 million worldwide. Not a bad day for our feathery friends. It more than tripled its production cost of $73 million. On its opening weekend, it raked in $38.2 million, beating "Captain America: Civil War" which was on its third weekend in the box office.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Chief Executive Kati Levoranta confirmed that Rovio Entertainment Ltd is indeed planning to do a sequel to the first "The Angry Birds Movie." No other details have been revealed at this time.

The release of the "The Angry Birds Movie" greatly increases Rovio's revenue for this year. This was not always the case. Rovio's revenue has been declining steadily for the past three years. It even reported a loss of $14.5 million last year. Back in 2014, the company was left with no choice but to remove at least half of its workforce, leaving the company with only 470 employees.

The earnings of the film pushed the growth of the company by at least 24 percent. It is currently developing new games both for Apple and Android devices. Levoranta added that the company is seeing "cash flow development" because of the excellent performance "The Angry Birds Movie" and the games as well. She added, "We currently have several exciting games and other projects in development, including new IP."

Fans will just have to wait for more update about the sequel for "The Angry Birds Movie." For now, we can watch the film over and over again or play the games.

"The Angry Birds Movie" Blu- Ray Edition has just been released in the United States and is set to be shown in Japan on October 1 of this year.
