The Samsung Gear S3 launched today, and you can tell that Samsung went to the extremes with its smartwatch. Other than its incredible features, the Samsung Gear S3 came in two variants: the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier.
Samsung announced their plans to launch the Gear S3 at IFA 2016, but they went ahead and launched their best smartwatch yet. The Samsung Gear S2 was one of the first smartwatches to be launched in the market last year, and most of the consumers preferred it over the Apple watch. The Samsung Gear S3 is a timepiece every gadget lover must have, but since it comes in two different variants, it is best for consumers to know how they differ from each other.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic does not differ that much physically with the Gear S3 Frontier; but compared to the S2, it is a lot bulkier with its 46 mm casings while its predecessor had a 42 mm casing. Another thing with the Samsung Gear S3 Classic is that it is the kind of accessory that you would rather wear to a formal event. In a review published at TIME, the Gear S3 Classic model has more of a luxury feel with its posh aesthetics and polished silver colour. The only caveat with the wearable is that the Gear S3 Classic only features Bluetooth connection
The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier
The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is the timepiece for the rugged, sporty and athletic user. It also comes with GPS and LTE which allows you to make phone calls from your wrist. If you ever find yourself lost in a place where your phone died or don't have cell service for some reason, you can check up on your friends and family through your wrist. There are also rumors circulating in the tech world that the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is likely to work with an iPhone, too.
PC World reports that the Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Frontier come with gorilla glass faces, a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 4GB of onboard storage, a 380 mAh battery, a 1GHz Exynos 7270 processor, and 68 MB of RAM. Both models run on a Tizen-based operating system. The Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Frontier also lets you stream music even if you are away from your phone. Rumors say that both models are waterproof, and comes with a standard 22mm watch straps - so users can take it for a swim anytime they see fit.
With a timepiece as useful as this strapped on your wrist, it's possible users could finally consider leaving their phones at home.
