Galaxy J2 DTV: Samsung's First Phone-TV Hybrid

'Cutting the Cord' is the trend for most people today, as more and more transition from cable TV dependence into more practical online services such as Netflix and Hulu. Despite the trend which is evident in first world countries, traditional pay-for-cable services are still a very strong niche, and now Samsung has officially tried to breach the market.

With this, the birth of the Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV has taken place. The Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV is a phone that is for the masses. It is affordable but also features a decent array of features that are quite satisfactory for most consumers.

Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV Specs

The Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV has a decent 5 MP rear camera, and another 2 MP selfie camera. Its computing power is also not that much as it only as 1 GB of RAM.

Its screen has a size of 4.7 inches featuring a Super AMOLED Display, having a resolution of 234 PPI. It also runs Android Lollipop, which is fairly dated compared to Android Marshmallow and Nougat.

Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV Connects to TV Cable

However, despite the seeming downsides that the Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV specs have, what makes it different and more preferable for some is its Digital TV tuner which allows users to watch cable TV anywhere as long as a cable signal is present.

To some degree, the Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV will not replace the big screen TVs of today, because a 4.7-inch screen does not provide anything near to the experience of watching on a standard 40-inch LED TV. It also has a battery capacity of 2000 mAh, which is quite small for today's standards.

Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV Price

The Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV is targeted at the Asian market where cable TV is still the number one mode of entertainment. As of now, it is still available in the Philippines and costs Php 6,990 or $150.

For its low price and its capability to receive standard TV signals, the Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV is actually a pretty decent device for a very specific niche market.
