Pokemon GO Buddy System Arrives Next Week? Possible Features Revealed

Following the implementations of Pokemon GO bans recently, Niantic has taken further steps into making the game more interesting. The studio is now expected to release the so-called Buddy System, a feature expected to change the overall gameplay of the hit mobile game. Although its specific release date is unknown, players can expect it to arrive anytime next week.

According to Otakukart, the new Pokemon GO system was first unravelled on AeonLucid's PogoProtos. The latter is deemed as one of the biggest Github repository when it comes to analysing the augmented reality game's network traffic. The upcoming Buddy System was found out to be part of 0.35.0 update's code base.

Here's a short rundown of what the Pokemon GO Buddy System is all about:

  • The Pokemon GO Buddy System will utilize the exact server side distance calculation, a tool used in Pokemon Eggs.
  • Players who walk around with their Pokemon Buddy will earn candies, though the quantity is yet to be distinguished.
  • Players are allowed to walk with the same Pokemon GO creature -- as their Buddy -- a lot of times. Nevertheless, some believed that there'll be a limit to it.
  • Players can only walk alongside one Pokemon Buddy -- one at a time.

As for the sizes of the forthcoming Pokemon GO feature, the Buddy System will likely to have the following:

  • Medium
  • Big
  • Pokemon can fly next to their trainers
  • Pokemon can rest on a trainer's shoulders

It should be noted that these changes are already present in the aforementioned Pokemon GO code base. So, in one way or another, it's very likely for fans to get hold of it in the next update.

Speaking of the next Pokemon GO update, it's said to arrive anytime next week. It rooted from the fact that the system will use the same walking calculation -- let alone the various endpoints existing in the game -- to that of the eggs.
