During the IFA 2016 press conference, Samsung debuted its new 88-inch KS9800, which is setting records as the world's largest quantum-dot TV available in the market today.
Michael Zoeller, the vice president and head of visual display at Samsung Europe says, "The origin of the next TV begins with an amazing particle - just a few atoms wide - the quantum-do. Quantum-dot is the new kid on the block."
Samsung SUHD TV Uses Quantum-dot Technology
According to Zoeller, LCD was the first major advancement in TV technology and then there was OLED. Succeeding it is the fresh and new quantum dot technology. The new quantum-dot SUHD TV of Samsung will be launched in 19 different models with varying sizes which range from 43 inches to 88 inches.
LG is also now using this new technology, as it is known to give an even more vibrant display experience giving off more than 1 billion colors, matched with a more stable brightness and power efficiency, as well as a lower burn in. Samsung is, even so, confident that its new quantum-dot SUHD TVs will not experience any kind of burn in, by giving a 10-year warranty to prove its claims.
Samsung SUHD TV Technological Breakthroughs
The quantum-dot SUHD TVs that Samsung will be making also offers a High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature. Samsung also is working on partnerships with Netflix and will surely make 4K HDR content to be more likely.
The new Samsung quantum-dot SUHD TVs will also feature a new Samsung Smart TV user interface with improved features just like auto-detection, very useful for setting up A/V devices gaming consoles, and media streaming boxes. The new Samsung quantum-dot SUHD TVs also has a built in Steam Link support enabling PC game streaming possible to be directly seen on the ultra HD screen of the TV.
LG may be have established first with its quantum-dot TVs, however, Samsung is not giving up the fight as it matches them with an 88-inch quantum dot TV.
