The newly introduced MacBook Pro with Retina Display that comes only in 15-inch model as of now, soon will receive the 13-inch model in its family.
Rumors are flying high that the Cupertino tech giant is now working on a 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina Display and plans to introduce the device later this fall as a part of product update.
AppleInsider, on Thursday, posted a note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI. The note suggests that Apple is geared up for the production of a 13-inch next-generation MacBook Pro with Retina display in September. The new model of Pro will hit stores in early October during the holiday shopping season.
Kuo has been known for his accurate predictions. He was the first to hint that Apple would discontinue its 17-inch MacBook Pro and also that the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will come alongside the original Pro. And, needless to say, he was right.
According to Kuo, even Apple has the "highest hopes" for the new 13-inch next-generation MacBook Pro which it could not unveil at this year's WWDC because of a low yield rate and greater assembly difficulty.
Moreover, the next generation Pro, just like its other varieties, will lack an optical disc drive, will have only solid-state flash memory storage and feature Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, 2,560 by 1,600 pixels screen resolution, an Intel Ivy Bridge processor with a clock speed greater than 2GHz and will be slightly thinner than the 15-inch variant, believes Kuo.
Meanwhile CNET has also reported that NPD DisplaySearch analysts Richard Shim and Jeff Lin also believe that a 13.3-inch Retina Display-caliber panel is in production and will be made in the third quarter of this year.
"Our Q1 report also indicated that a 13.3-inch 2,560 by 1,600 resolution panel was being prepared for production in the third quarter," the analysts said. "ODM supply chain sources indicate that Apple will use this panel in a MacBook Pro unit to be launched in the fourth quarter."
