“Outlander” may have picked the wrong role for David Berry as his casting as Lord John Grey in the historical series discontents fans, thus prompting followers to doubt if the show will stay true to Diana Gabaldon’s “Voyager” novel.
According to International Business Times, Lord John Grey plays a pivotal role in the series and to have casted Berry on Grey’s character is not impressive at all.
Fans perceived that Berry looks quite younger which is contrasting to his character’s description in the novel. Also, the actor’s persona does not quite match the “fine-boned” soldier he is referred to in the books of Gabaldon. While Berry has dark hair and is over six feet tall, Lord John Grey sports blond hair and his height is about five and half feet in the book.
Having pointed out these dissimilarities, viewers may not be persuaded on Grey’s persona in Berry. Rest assured that showrunnner Ronald D. Moore will exceed the expectations of their supporters. Surely, Berry will be transformed to a realistic Grey and we could only be stunned by his great performance.
In a related report of iTech Post, it was mentioned that the casting of the Lord John Grey role has been challenging considering that the role is highly significant. As Lord John Grey, the Australian actor will be playing the new love interest of Sam Heughan in the latest season. He acts as governor of Ardsmuir Prison, where he reconnects with Jamie whom he had an encounter during his childhood. Interestingly, he tried to kill the latter during the Battle of Culloden.
Jamie MacKenzie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp Randall are anticipated to reunite in the third installment of the science fiction series. This is one interesting reunion that we cannot ignore.
We’re almost set to 2017. Better brace yourselves for a time travel with “Outlander” next year.
