With WWDC 2012 now behind us, and no official iPhone 5 announcements or information forthcoming, the iPhone 5 rumor mill is now churning at maximum capacity once more, with new morsels of information to be found and dissected in every corner of the Internet.
One of these morsels, and a rather large and tasty one at that, is a new concept video created by 17-year-old Dakota Adney. While the actual features of the iPhone 5 found in the concept video are rather unlikely to be employed in the real model, they could be served up in future models of the iPhone or other mobile devices.
First up is the transparent screen, which we've actually already seen in some devices. The screen is flawless and clear, very much akin to looking out an incredibly clean window. Of course the transparency effect could prove troublesome depending on what's happening in the background at the time, but otherwise provides a stunning, ambient backdrop.
It's worth noting that Samsung is a leading developer of transparent display technology and concepts, and will likely be the company making the screens for the iPhone 5, as they've been a major supplier of these components to Apple in the past, including being the exclusive supplier of the iPad's Retina Display.
Next up is the integrated laser keyboard, allowing the user to set the iPhone down and type up a storm on the surface of the moment. The laser keyboard would be incredibly worthwhile for those with large fingers or poor eyesight especially, for whom the small virtual keyboard does no favors.
While those two core concepts are outside possibilities for the actual iPhone 5, they are most certainly technologies that will see widespread release in future mobile devices.
Lastly the video shows the iPhone 5 working with numerous apps, including Twitter, iBooks, Instagram, and the new and improved Siri, all of which should further whet appetites for the real thing.
The video is impressive in its concepts and execution, and is a drool-worthy addition to the current rumors and concepts making the rounds.
