'Rune Factory' Franchise Now on its 10 Years; Celebrates with 3DS Themes and Story of Seasons Costumes

The Rune Factory series is may be a franchise that falls short of being 10-year old in the West, but in Japan, it already is and it was celebrated with goodies that will make its fans rejoice.

Originally introduced in Japan on August 24, 2006 for the Nintendo DS handheld platform, the franchise which gamers have known for its good mixture of combat and farming simulation has just turned 10 years old last month. In celebration to this event, Marvelous, the developer behind the game, are releasing digital contents for Rune Factory 4 in honor of the franchise as initially disclosed at Famitsu via images and screenshots.

Non-Japanese language literate may be left with a scratching head with the reference being in Japanese texts, but here is what the website actually contains:

Although the first two images posted in the website may not appear as obvious, these screenshot is meant to showcase the up and coming theme for the Nintendo 3DS. Most notable of the themes shown is the first which contains the heroines of the franchise namely Mist (Rune Factory), Mana (Rune Factory 2), Shara (Rune Factory 3), Sonja (Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny), and Frey (Rune Factory 4) in addition to the Rune Factory icon, Woolie. At the theme's background, 3DS owners will hear the romantic music normally heard during dates and romantic events in Rune Factory 4.

The theme is slated for release on September 7, 2016 in Japan and would cost 200 yen.

On the other hand, owners of the Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns will be given free Rune Factory 4 costumes which their avatars could wear in-game. Players will have the option to choose to wear either Lest or Frey costume. This update will be made available on the same date as the release of the franchise's theme on the 3DS.

However, according to Siliconera, there is still not yet a word whether these same goodies will ever reach the Rune Factory franchise's Western audiences.
