NBA Trade Rumors: Derrick Rose To join New York Knicks; Sexual Assault Case Affected Chicago Bulls' Decision

Derrick Rose, the 2011 NBA MVP and three-time NBA All-Star is heading to New York Knicks after Chicago Bulls traded him off last June. The team allegedly has no regrets since it prefers to have Dwayne Wade.

The 27-year-old point guard was traded to the New York Knicks while the Chicago Bulls acquired Sacramento Kings' point guard Rajon Rondo and Miami Heat's shooting guard Dwayne Wayde.

Despite the sudden trade, Derrick Rose apparently has no hard feelings towards Chicago Bulls which he considered his home since 2008. The basketball star recognizes how Chicago Bulls molded him to be the player he is today.

In a post, Derrick Rose expressed his excitement to move in New York and join the roster of New York Knicks. It appears that the former MVP is ready to start a new chapter in his NBA career.

On the other hand, Chicago Bull also seems to be moving forward with its decision to let go of Derrick Rose. The team is prepping for the upcoming season with Dwayne Wade and Rajon Rondo as their newest addition.

Rumors have been circulating online that Chicago Bulls made the tough decision to let go of Derrick Rose due to his sexual assault case.

According to reports, Derrick Rose will go to trial on Oct. 4 after a judge denied his petition to dismiss the case filed against him in August 2015. In the said case, Derrick Rose and two of his friends allegedly broke into the victim's apartment and raped her while still unconscious. The player and his legal team strongly denied the said allegations. TMZ reported that the said victim is seeking $6 million in compensatory damages and $15.5 million in punitive damages.

Many believed that the ongoing case will greatly affect Derrick Rose's performance as it may distract the player before and during the NBA season. Some even claim that Chicago Bulls made the right move because they don't have to worry about Derrck Rose's personal life anymore not to mention the negative publicity it brings to the team.

Meanwhile, New York Knicks president, Phil Jackson admitted that they are aware of the player's situation and the current investigation.

"Aware of it. Investigation is a big word. But aware of it, yes," Phil Jackson said in an interview with USA Today.

It appears that the team don't want to make a big deal out of it as much as possible and just wanted to focus on the upcoming NBA season.

With Derrick Rose's fresh start in New York Knicks, fans can expect to see more of him in action to prove that he's still the D.Rose people rooted for back in Chicago Bulls.
