“The Witness” Latest News and Updates: 3D Puzzle Game Gets Forward Compatible With PS 4 PRO Via Patch

With the approaching release of Playstation 4 Pro, game designers are in full activity of making their releases "forward compatible" with the major console. "The Witness" is just one of those.

The patch was publicized by game designer Jonathan Blow as to make the gameplay more in harmony with the Playstation 4 Pro, according to Gamespot.

Initially, the Thekla, Inc. published 3d puzzle video game has a frame rate running time of 60 FPS but Blow and the rest of his team realized that since it already runs in such a condition for Playstation 4, the patch will concentrate more on visual imagery.

"This image will then be upscaled to 4K, and we will draw text, menus, and other UI at native 4k resolution. (This is similar to what happens on the base PS4, where we render the 3D scene at 900p, then upscale to 1080p and draw UI at 1080p)," the Braid creator explained in a blog as mentioned in the website.

Braid also want to attain higher specs with regards to resolution for their game as they are aiming above the 1440p baseline. He mentioned that fans will immediately be updated if these will come into fruition.

In relations to the gaming console support, things have not been finalized as of the moment but there is already a clear pipeline for the aim with the PS4 Pro being able to recognize a 4K linked PS4 Pro between a 1080p linked PS4 Pro, as reported in "The Witness" website.

The team is also occupied as of the moment with regards to HDR support as Blow believes that it is great for the Sony company to have such a vision.

Such a patch is important especially as a performance bump between designer and console in order to fix compatibility problems prior to initial release.
