Apple's latest offering in the tech world, the next generation 13 inch MacBook Pro has been updated with the latest Intel Core processors, as well as powerful discrete graphics from Nvidia. Moreover, the 13 inch MacBook Pro comes with the latest Intel Core i5 or Core i7 dual-core processors up to 2.9GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6GHz.
In addition, it features Nvidia GeForce GT 650M discrete graphics and high-speed Thunderbolt port and two USB 3.0 ports which allow users to connect to external displays easily.
"Today we've updated the entire MacBook line with faster processors, graphics, memory, flash storage and USB 3 connectivity," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
According to MacRumors, the folks over at Primate Labs have recently shown up the Geekbench 2 score for the 13 inch MacBook Pros and the 13 inch MacBook Airs from last three years.
The score suggests that the latest 13 inch MacBook Pro with the Core i5 and the Core i7 are 10 percent faster when compared to the late 2011's 13-inch MacBook Pros. It offers a better performance over the new MacBook Airs.
"The latest MacBook Pros offer a nice increase in performance over the previous MacBook Pros. Both the Core i5 and the Core i7 Mid 2012 13-inch MacBook Pros are over 10% faster than the equivalent Late 2011 13-inch MacBook Pros. Some of the increase is from higher processor speeds, while some of the increase in from the improved Ivy Bridge processor architecture," elaborates Primate Labs. "The latest MacBook Pros also offer a nice increase in performance over the latest MacBook Airs. The Core i5 13-inch MacBook Pro is 10% faster than the Core i5 13-inch MacBook Air, while the Core i7 13-inch MacBook Pro is 15% faster (and $100 cheaper) than the Core i7 13-inch MacBook Air."
The 13 inch MacBook Pro, equipped with a Core i5 and Core i7 processors, is available with a starting price of $1,199 and $1,499 respectively.
The MacBook Pro is expected to come with Retina display by the end of the year. Apple Insider has received a note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI who expects that Apple could "ramp up" production of a 13inch MacBook Pro with Retina display in September.
