Reboots and remakes of hit movies are becoming a trend and to include the original cast and crew are common happenings and are highly anticipated by the viewers. This does not apply to the new “Power Rangers” film as not one of its original cast members is included for appearances.
In an interview with Audibly Exquisite podcast, Walter Jones (Zack the Black Ranger) revealed that cameo roles from the original ‘90s group are not happening.
“Unfortunately we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.”
Karan Ashley, who played “Aisha” the Yellow Ranger also expressed the same sentiments to Inverse.
“They’re not a sentimental bunch, and it’s fine,” she said.
“We all wish we could be part of that movie. Fans everywhere ask, ‘Are you in this new movie?’ We’re not, no one is in the movie. It’s a true reboot. It’s all new, all fresh,” Ashley elaborated.
Jones and Ashley are both alums of the original “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” tv series. It is unfortunate to learn that former stars of the famous superhero film are feeling frustrated. Guess that’s how the wheel of fortune works in the movie industry.
Having confirmed the sad truth from the former Power Rangers themselves, would moviegoers still patronize the upcoming film?
The latest film will star Dacre Montgomery, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Elizabeth Banks, and Bryan Cranston.
Directed by Dean Israeliate and penned by John Gatins, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, the “Power Rangers” reboot will be unleashed in March 24, 2017.
It’s time to move forward then. We will see early next year if the new cast will be able to deliver their best performances as the latest team of superheroes.
