Following the confirmation that Natalie Portman will not reprise her role as Jane Foster in “Thor: Ragnarok,” fans spin the rumor wheel as to who will be the new love interest of Thor.
Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige explained to The Empire Film Podcast that Portman’s role is not necessary in the sequel as Thor will not be spending much time on Earth.
“I can confirm that, yes. There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie. 80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos.”
There it is. Jane Foster indeed will not materialize as the God of Thunder’s presence will be maximized out of space. Foster’s presence will be greatly missed but the new movie made sure Thor’s romantic story will not be left out.
When Thessa Thompson’s casting was made official, the press and supporters of Marvel’s superhero film were quick to consider her as Thor’s potential girlfriend, thus replacing Portman’s place in Thor’s heart.
Jane Foster fans need not worry as Valkyrie (Thessa Thompson) will not steal Thor. According to ScreenGeek.Net, “Valkyrie is also a warrior in that planet and befriends Thor, but they don’t actually become a couple although there’s a spark between them.”
Singing that tune, we can infer that romance will be a hard sell for Thor. Instead he focuses on his mission.
“Thor: Ragnarok” will hit theaters on November 3, 2017 and we highly anticipate it to break blockbuster records.
The stellar cast joining Chris Hemsworth and Thessa Thompson are Cate Blanchett as the new antagonist Hela, “Star Trek” star Karl Urban as Skurge the Executioner and Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster. “Doctor Strange’s” Benedict Cumberbaych is also reported to make a cameo in the latest film.
I bet we have a clear deal here post Halloween. See you in theaters for another Superhero treat!
