Rooted phone users turn to searches related on how the latest Pokemon Go can be played on a rooted device. The latest version of Pokemon Go does not allow its users to play the game on rooted phones. This is because GPS spoofing and Xposed modules are being used in order to make advancements. Even the helpful RootCloak just do not seem to work. However, there is a formulated strategy that gives a simple solution to this basic problem.
According to Android Police, a mod that is developed by an XDA user topjohnwu goes by the name Magisk. The same user was the author of the systemless Xposed flashable zip. Magisk is a shortened name for Magic Mask. Magisk's main objective is to surpass the problems that were encountered by systemless mods, and eventually creating a compatible universal interface which can be used to develop and make use of systemless mods.
According to Reddit, Magisk became popular after it was discovered he can enable Android Play on rooted phones and devices. This is possible since Magisk does not go around the SafetyNet API. Pokemon Go uses the SafetyNet API, thus Magisk can make the Pokemon Go work for rooted devices. There are reminders however in using Magisk to run Pokemon Go. Do a full backup of your system before doing the following steps:
First, you have to do a full unrooting of your device, then install the new Pokemon Go APK and log-in to check if it is working. SuperSU is suggested to be used for unrooting (can be downloaded from PlayStore). Then download Magisk and Magisk Manager. Next is to flash the magisk and phhzip. Then install the Magisk Manager using the APK file and phh SuperUser app. Finally, go to Magisk Manager to toggle root on or off. If the root is toggled off, Pokemon Go is expected to work. If it is toggled on, the root will work.
