Mistresses Cancelled: The Steamy Scenes Will Surely Be Missed

Viewers will be missing the scandalous lives of Savi, April, Karen, and Joss since ABC announced the cancellation of the fifth season of the maudlin show, "Mistresses."

The fourth and last season aired its finale last week and took a bow on September 6, according to reports.

"Mistresses" is an adaptation of the U.K. series of the same name and is created by K.J. Steinberg. The story circulated around an array of complex and illicit love affairs of different women played mainly by Rochelle Aytes, Yunjin Kim, Jes Macallan, and Tabrett Bethell. Alyssa Milano appeared in the first two seasons while Jennifer Esposito joined for just the third.

The series was known for its good old fashioned soap antics. There were murders and attempted murder stunts, sudden lesbian actions and transgender issues, the old baby daddy drama, FBI investigations and mob ties, a little bit of assaults and stalking here and there. Of course it wouldn't be named "Mistresses" if there were no cheating, secrets and polyamorous relationships thrown in every angle possible. In addition, all of the cast were atrociously and unfairly good-looking.

The steamy series premiered back in June 2013 and lasted for a good four seasons. This racy romantic drama were given 13 naughty episodes each. The first season opened with a good steady run with 4.4 million viewers. Second season was still holding on with strong reviews. However, viewers' interest started to falter on its third premiere. The imminent downfall happened on the fourth season where the show gained it's lowest-rated episode of 2 million viewers in July in a news article published by ew.com. The finale episode was able to gain only 2.57 million viewers.

Though the series did not disappoint to deliver a never ending parade of sexual shenanigans and personal catastrophes that helped the series head above the water and humming along for four seasons, news about the cancellation was first reported by Deadline, and explains that the series was never as big as the other ABC TV series like Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family, but held rather a fairly good, stable ratings.

Their crazy sexy times and those steamy cliffhangers will surely be missed.
