"Dishonored 2" trailer has just been released by Arkane Studios and "delightfully bloody" is a phrase that can aptly describe it. The game follows Corvo Attano, who was also the main character in the first game, in his hunt for Delilah.
In the original game, Corvo rescued Emily Kaldwin, the young empress who was next in line to the Empire of Isle, from the Daud. In "Dishonored 2," Emily is all grown up but has been dethroned by Delilah, the main antagonist of the story who was introduced in the previous game's DLC packs.
The trailer shows Corvo looking for Delilah who seemed to have become more powerful and violent since "The Knife of Dunwall" and "The Brigmore Witches." She has become a fearsome monster who intimidates and kills those who try to get in her way.
Also shown in the trailer is the mysterious Outsider, the entity who gave Corvo his supernatural abilities in the first game. Judging by the trailer, it seems that The Outsider is very much involved in helping Corvo.
One notable feature that fans will notice in the trailer is that Blink, one of Corvo's most prominent abilities, has been upgraded. The new Blink is faster and allows Corvo to freeze time. With much faster speed, the character can easily scale rooftops and go through gutters.
"Dishonored 2" also allows players to play Emily. In an interview with Harvey Smith, the game's creative director, he talked about the difference and similarity between the two characters. Their abilities, according to Smith, have been the product of the lives they lived.
For example, Corvo has Rat Swarm which he acquired during the Rat Plague. Emily, on the other hand, has Mesmerize given the fact that she is the Empress. Despite the differences, they also share some abilities like the Shadow Kill, which allows them to disintegrate their enemies.
"Corvo has exactly the same powers as last time but with all these upgrades--three to five upgrades for each power. Emily has all-new powers. Then we have enhancements, which are the passive powers--your jump distance or your agility," Smith added.
"Dishonor 2" is set for release on Nov. 11 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
