‘Wayward Pines’ Season 3 In A Tough Competition With ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

The battle for the best science fiction series has begun.

Fox’s “Wayward Pines” is facing a great rival in Netflix’s “Stranger Things” as the latter outpaced the former in terms of ratings.

A report suggested that with “Stranger Things” phenomenal hit, M. Night Shyamalan and Fox should better do their best by applying the same formula they applied to season 1 to season 3 should they get the greenlight for a the show’s renewal. This is due to “Wayward Pines” unstable ratings in season 3.

The same article challenged “Wayward Pines” to release its third season in a very aggressive approach just as Netflix styled the fictional town of Hawkins.

Why would “Wayward Pines” follow the system of “Stranger Things?” Is it necessary? Are Blake Crouch’s novels too complicated to be interpreted with a bang?

Here’s a secret. Both thriller series have a common denominator in the persona of the Duffer Brothers. They initially created a thriller in “Wayward Pines” prior to painting a mysterious disappearance of Will Byers that left Winona Ryder frenzied.

According to Slash Film, the North Carolina-born twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer caught the attention of director Shyamalan after reading the screenplay of their post-apocalyptic horror film “Hidden.” Impressed by the writing skills of the siblings, he immediately hired them to be writers and producers of his tv series adaptation of “Wayward Pine” season 1.

We can assume that Matt and Ross honed their craft in horror shows with “Wayward Pines” hence the big success of “Stranger Things.”

“Wayward Pines” is worth the time and attention of every science fiction or mystery enthusiast. Its eerie theme will set one into suspense and the weird environment of the characters will take his imagination into a different world.

Definitely, it’s a show that we would like to follow. Season 3, anyone?
