Lil Wayne On Racism: 'It's Over!'

Rapper Lil' Wayne, known for his hits like "Lollipop" and "A Milli" is under scrutiny because of his remarks on the show "Skip and Shannon: Undisputed" on Fox Sports.

Lil' Wayne came to the show to discredit rumors that he is retiring from the hip-hop industry, according to ABC News. The rapper then gave a piece of his mind that left everyone wondering.

The Hill reports that the discussion transitioned from race to his own opinion of some athletes such as the "kneeling-down" protest of Colin Kaepernick, after talks about his life and career.

His statement about the matter was "I respect the man and his decision, and that's all I can do. I have no opinion on it, because thing's outside me. ... Somebody had to explain it to me like, 'He's kneeling because of that whole Black Lives Matter thing," referring to Kaepernick's protest of not standing-up during the singing of the U.S. national anthem.

The host asked the rapper on his opinion about the United States' stance on racism, he answered "I have never dealt with racism. Never is a strong word but I am thankful. Maybe it's from my blessing, I don't know, but it is my reality. I thought it was over, but obviously it isn't."

Lil' Wayne was affirmative that he hasn't experienced racism all his life, but admitted to seeing it in his hometown New Orleans.

He is convinced that "There's no such thing as racism", as he put it, because the Caucasian race is also listening to his music. He believes that his music taps into all different ethnicities, and is thankful for that.

The Louisiana rapper was aware that he might get bad reputation from his perspective about racism saying, "I don't want to be bashed ... but I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism. That's what I thought that was. I thought that was a perfect example of it."

Maybe Wayne is just too naïve to see that racism is still existent and affecting the lives of many people, not only the black community.
