As per the latest announcements made by Apple, by now we all know that the company will no longer support Google Maps feature. But is there a twist in the tale? Will there be Google Maps after all on the iOS 6? Let’s find out
For those of you, who thought that it’s the end of Google Maps on iOS, look closely. Although Google Maps won’t be a native part of iOS anymore, that doesn’t mean it won’t be available on iOS at all. It is believed that Google is working on a Google Maps app for the iOS App Store.
Over the weekend Google’s Jeff Huber posted a picture on his Google+ of the new Google Street View exhibit at the Computer History Museum. And in response to a comment on the photo, Huber promised one Google Maps user that Apple’s announcement wasn’t the end of Google Maps on iOS.
“Just REALLY hope all this hard work is sill appreciable from an iOS device.. I can assure you that just because some of us have iPhones and iPads doesn't mean we don't prefer google maps over the elementary stuff apple is said to be proposing! We need a great Google Map app. Pleeeease! [just edited typos and clarity],” asked William Dowell, the user.
In response, Huber wrote, “We look forward to providing amazing Google Maps experiences on iOS.”
So is there a hidden message in this announcement? Are we awaiting a surprise from both the companies? Will Apple still continue to maintain a relationship with Google over the popular Google Maps? Only time will tell.
