After launching iOS 6 this June at the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple has released the first major update, iOS 6 beta 2 to developers on Tuesday.
"This beta version of iOS 6 contains bug fixes and improvements," and no new features or major changes, Apple says.
Developers will receive the iOS 6 Beta 2 via an over the air update. It has a build number of 10A5338d, and weighs in at 332MB for iPhone 4S users.
iOS 6 beta 2 is available to registered developers, and can be downloaded from Apple's Developer Connection site. The final version of iOS 6 is expected to be released later in 2012.
Check out the five major changes iOS 6 Beta 2 brings:
1. The Beta 2 version includes a toggle to control iOS 6′s new Shared Photo Streams feature. The toggle is in both the Photos settings page and the iCloud settings;
2. It introduces a new Twitter icon system wide. The new Twitter for iPhone icon shows what the new icon will look like even before Twitter released the update;
3. Calendar items in Notification Center now show ending times and dates;
4. The Maps app, with just one tap, offers you directions from your current location to your home. You don't have to dig through contacts to find your own address as the new app automatically gives direction for your home.
5. The Smart Banners covered at the iOS 6 keynote are functional in beta 2, reports 9to5mac. The new app will allow websites to display a banner at the top of the phone screen prompting you to download their app.
