Kindle Fire 2 Comes in July - Amazon Tablet to Compete with Google Nexus

Rumors are flying high about the possible launch of next generation Kindle Fire tablet next month.

CNET, citing anonymous sources, reported that Amazon is all set to unleash its Kindle Fire iteration on July 31. According to the report, the next Fire will sport a camera, physical volume controls and 8GB of internal storage.

Earlier, a few reports claimed that the world's biggest online retailer will launch a 10-inch next-generation Kindle Fire tablet in the third quarter this year. Moreover, the tablet, "Hollywood," will be powered by a quad-core processor, a BGR report claimed last year.

The timing of the leak comes just as Google is prepping the launch of its new 7-inch tablet running Android Jelly Bean at Google I/O in San Francisco. Nexus will be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 12-core GPU and will have 1GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, DigiTimes reported that the Fire 2 will sport a price tag of $199, similar to its predecessor. But Amazon would drop the price of the older Fire to $149 before the launch of purported Fire 2, the report added.

According to various rumors, Google will set the price of Nexus 7 tablet at $159 to $199 for 8GB version and $177 to $249 for 16GB.

If rumors turn out to be true, Amazon's Kindle Fire will now have to directly compete with Google's Nexus tablet.
