"Annabelle' is a spinoff from the movie "Conjuring" that grossed $256 million from only a $6.5 million budget in 2014. It is also the 14th highest-grossing supernatural/horror film in U.S. and Canada. It was a box office on its opening day, earning $15.4 million.
The story of Annabelle is based on the experiences of the married couple, Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple is a well-known American paranormal investigators that have expert knowledge in demonology and clairvoyance.
According to the couple, a nursing student was given a raggedy Ann doll in 1970. The doll soon acted strangely, and a psychic medium told the nursing student that her doll was possessed by a ghost named "Annabelle Higgins". The student and her roommate allegedly tried to accept the doll but later on terrorized both of them in a series of malicious behavior. The students decided to contact the Warrens who took "Annabelle" and said that it was "being manipulated by an inhuman presence".
Today, the Warrens keep the doll locked in a glass box at their very own Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut.
The movie will be starred by Miranda Otto, Stephanie Sigman, and will be directed by David F. Sandberg, the same director of the recent horror movie "Lights Out" which James Wan also produced.
