The Diamond (Michael Johnson) is about to face The Menace (Dustin Poirier) tonight in UFC Fight Night 94 in Texas and fans are already betting on their favorite fighter.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Fight Night 94 is happening today at 1 to 10 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas with Dustin Poirier and Michael Johnson battling it out for the main event.
The Main Card event was decided by UFC to be shared in the cage by Dustin Poirier and Michael Johnson. The bouts will be televised live on Fox Sports and live streaming links are also available on UFC's official website. The fight can be streamed live on web using UFC's Fight Pass for Early Prelims and the Main Event.
During a pre-fight prediction, Poirier was self-assured on his statements announcing his opponent cannot match up to him as he is not the kind of fighter that can dance with him in a 25-minute fight. "I'm a modern day gladiator. I show up to a sold out arena, stand in the middle of it and fight another man until one of us falls, how exciting is that?", he said. "'I've been around Michael Johnson a few times, I get the vibe he's a little bit overconfident, thinks he's a big shot", Poirier claims, going a bit further in his statements.
Poirier is said to be in a good position in the upcoming duel as he won his last four bouts prior tonight's. His last successful combat was in June against Bobby Green in the UFC 199. Lasting for only two minutes and 52 seconds, Poirier made his record come to an overall tally of 20 wins in 24 fights. According to reports, Poirier appears to be the favorite for tonight's fight in Hidalgo, hosting a UFC fight for the first time.
Meanwhile, his opponent, Michael Johnson, is coming tonight at the event from two consecutive losses. As it is known, Johnson lost his last fight to Nate Diaz in December. Johnson returns to the UFC spotlight for the first time after his 10-month layoff. I was reported that he originally set for a re-match with Tony Ferguson in March, but was called off after his doctor discovered a torn labrum and an issue with his rotator cuff on him. The match was cancelled as he was said to go under a surgery for those findings.
"I'm extremely hungry, like 'Hungry Hippos' times a thousand. I've been extremely hungry ever since the night of December the 19th, the night I lost to Nate Diaz. That should tell you how hungry I am that I remember that exact date. I got my surgery, I was little down in the dumps, but I got healthy. Ever since, my mindset has been in an extremely great place", Johnson in his interview.
