iOS 6 Beta 2 Jailbreak with RedSn0w 0.9.13 dev 2 (Tutorial, Download Links)

Apple has already released the first beta of the upcoming version of its mobile operating system (OS), iOS 6. This has let developers have a firsthand look at how the software will behave. The Cupertino-based company has also pushed out the second beta of the OS, iOS 6 beta 2 build 10A5338d, to developers as an over-the-air (OTA) update with a wide variety of bug fixes and slight improvements.

If you are already running iOS 6 beta 1, you can now easily download the second beta of iOS 6 via OTA update by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Note that the iOS 6 beta 2 build 10A5338d for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is also available on iOS Dev Center.

Now after you've updated your iPhone 4 (GSM/CDMA) or iPhone 3GS to the iOS 6 beta 2 firmware, you can jailbreak it tethered using latest version of the popular RedSn0w jailbreak tool. The iPhone Dev Team has also released RedSn0w 0.9.13 dev 2 to address issues with SSH and app crashes, experienced by some users before.

"Update #1: The 'dev2' version should fix the various SSH problems and crashes with apps that some have been seeing," read a post on the iPhone Dev Team's blog.

Important: Before we begin, note that you must be a developer to download iOS 6 beta firmware. You will need the iOS 6 beta 1 firmware in order to jailbreak iOS 6 beta 2. This only works for A4 devices and below, that is, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th generation, and iPhone 3GS. This is a tethered jailbreak.

Here are the steps to perform the jailbreak:

Step 1: Install iOS 6 beta 2 firmware either OTA or through iTunes.

Step 2: Place your device into DFU mode.

Step 3: Download RedSn0w 0.9.13 dev 2 and open it. (Find the download links below)

Step 4: Click Extras > Select IPSW > and point to your iOS 6 beta 1 firmware.

Step 5: Go back to the main screen and click Jailbreak. Make sure Install SSH is checked. This jailbreak does not install Cydia.

Step 6: Once the jailbreak has finished, place your device back into DFU mode, and go back to Extras > Select IPSW, and again point to your iOS 6 beta 1 firmware.

Step 7: Once identified, select Just boot from the Extras menu to perform a tethered boot. That’s it.
