Google launched a developer preview of its next generation operating system Jelly Bean on Wednesday and within few hours, tech geeks made it available for the public.
An Android 4.1, Jelly Bean ROM was leaked and put online by folks at RootzWiki. There are currently ROMs for Verizon Wireless variant of Galaxy Nexus (both LTE and GSM).
No bugs have been found till now but Rootz warned users saying anything wrong can happen due to tweaking, rooting, or modifying the device.
"This is not the official and final Jellybean edition; this is based on an android backup of the GSM preview build that was rolled out at Google I/O. There may be bugs, crashes, freezes, or other issues. The butter may leak out. Install at your own risk, and make sure to enjoy yourself when you do," the website says.
Android 4.1 or Jelly Bean will now enhance the speed and smoothness of the phone. CNET says VSync and Triple Buffering that are provided in the new Android OS will to enhance the touch responsiveness.
Other impressive features of the new OS include offline voice typing, auto arranging of icons, and a predictive keyboard. Moreover, some tweaks have been made to the camera app, revamped notification, a Siri-like feature called Google Now and Android Beam have also been introduced in the new operating system. The new OS also launches a faster user interface enabled by "Project Butter."
The official update will be available over-the-air to Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and Motorola Xoom in mid-July.
