"Crysis 3," which was “accidentally” revealed by Electronic Arts, is set to be the third main installment of the Crysis series and is the sequel to "Crysis 2" which released last year. "Crysis 3" will run on CryENGINE 3.
According to the game's official website, "Return to the fight as Prophet, the Nanosuit soldier on a quest to rediscover his humanity and exact brutal revenge. Adapt on the fly with the stealth and armor abilities of your unique Nanosuit as you battle through the seven wonders of New York's Liberty Dome. Unleash the firepower of your all-new, high-tech bow and alien weaponry to hunt both human and alien enemies. And uncover the truth behind the death of your squad while reestablishing the power of human will in a rich story full of exciting twists and turns."
Let’s take a look at the features we know about so far.
The Story – The game will see Prophet, the chief protagonist, returning to New York City which now lies in ruins. The corrupt Cell Corporation has restricted the city limits in a giant Nanodome and New York has now entirely been taken over by the wild environment. The amazing "Crysis 3" graphics system, powered by CryENGINE 3, has brilliantly depicted the unkempt trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers.
"Crysis 3" is set in 2047. Your aim is to navigate this new and dangerous environment and seek revenge for the Cell Corporation's plans to introduce their own brand of evil. The Cell Corporation will do whatever needs to be done for misleading the human population into believing that these city-holding Nanodomes are for 'the greater good' and would protect them from the alien forces of the Ceph. However, in reality, these giant domes are being used as a means for Cell Corporation to complete their mission of global domination.
This is both the best and the worst news - expect a graphically gifted Ceph invasion in the game that will threaten your existence.
Gameplay – “Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” according to Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek.
This, almost, defines the game as well as its gameplay to the utmost. To add more zest to it, let’s quickly go through the weapons that will be offered. We know that the enemy will be wielding guns, and the Ceph will have access to giant mech tripods and flamethrowers. The Cell Corporation soldiers, on the other hand, will have access to shotguns and rifles. Prophet, however, will be armed with a bow and arrow. Really?
Hopefully, Prophet’s bow and arrow actually offers more than it meets the eye. The combo can be customized with explosives, scopes, a host of fire modes and types of ammo that may not be enough to do serious damage to the enemy. Of course, there are always the nanosuit powers, of which the three modes – Power, Stealth and Armor – will be available again.
CryENGINE 3 – CryENGINE 3 was released on October 14, 2009. In its first demonstration, the CryENGINE 3 showed the 'Cascaded Light Propagation Volumes for Real Time Indirect Illumination.' You can expect unbelievably real environments and beautiful lighting along with dynamic physics and razer-sharp AI, with its gifted open world, sandbox gameplay.
Release Date – The game is set to arrive in February 13, 2013.
