Marvel revealed that Mariko Tamari and artist Nico Leon will collaborate on the newest comic series, "She-Hulk," beginning this December. However, the book will simply be called "Hulk."
"Hulk" will follow the story of Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner's cousin who is a lawyer and is battling the same monster within. Her story will build from the events that transpired in the "Civil War II" wherein she was badly injured in her battle against Thanos and then awaken from coma learning that his cousin, Bruce "Hulk" Banner, was shot by Hawkeye. Anger and anxiety builds her current emotional state, and people would have to find how she will overcome this monstrosity.
In a report by by CBR.com, Tamaki, an award-winning author, described the character as someone who is "absolutely shaped by the trauma she's experienced."
She further explained that much of the anger Jennifer felt was because she thought too much of how different people were when different things happened in their lives. The anger the main character felt was caused by a lot of memories and trauma.
"I was really into the idea of a Hulk, of the ability to transform into something close to monstrous, that's still human, and heroic. It was interesting to think about what's human about Hulk and vice versa," Tamaki stated.
On the other hand, Nico Leon, who is Marvel's most promising creator, will publish "Hulk" as his first comic series. Tamaki has nothing but praises for Leon, stating that "Nico Leon is an awesome artist."
"I love the expressiveness, the speed and power, of his work," A.V. Club quoted her as saying.
"I love to draw normal life," said Leon. "I am very excited to be able to draw the day-to-day life of a superhero who needs not to be a superhero all the time. And I am super excited to explore how her new status quo will affect her life and thus her personality and how it will manifest through her body language and interactions with common people and heroes alike."
