HTC's success in its smartphone lineup has largely bee overshadowed by some other big tech companies like Apple and Samsung. The Taiwanese company has watched Apple and Samsung hold their dominant grip on the premium side of the business sector, and its own HTC 10 has somehow struggled to gain any sort of attention thanks to the recent releases of the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy Note 7.
But just recently, the Taiwanese manufacturer released its latest stab at winning over the midrange audience, at least in Europe: the Desire 10 Pro and the Desire 10 Lifestyle. While the two devices expect to offer higher-end designs at fairly affordable prices, a glance at their spec sheets seems to suggest some compromises.
Appearance
Both Desire 10 phones look great. "Mature" seems to be the appropriate word here - they're made from an assortment of metal and matte plastic, with few stylish designs over the finish. If you can notice, there's definitely an Apple influence here. They also come in a variety of colors: dark, white, navy blue, and light blue. HTC also features a color that they personally call 'Valentine Lux.'
Difference
Despite the similar names and builds, however, the two telephones are generally different. The HTC Desire 10 Pro is the higher-end model of the two. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB or 64 GB of expandable storage, and a 3,000 milliampere-hour battery.
Some specs to consider
The HTC Desire 10 Pro also has stronger cameras: a 20-megapixel lens on the back and a 13-megapixel front cam. That's compared with the 13-and 5-megapixel shooters on the Desire 10 Lifestyle. The Lifestyle does have one advantage, which is it can play higher-resolution, 24-bit audio files. If you go out of your way for those - and if you have the headphones to hear it - those should sound a lot sharper than your typical streaming service fare.
HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle now available!
The Desire 10 Lifestyle is currently available in the United Kingdom, starting from £249 and beyond. The company states that the Desire 10 Pro will be released sometime in November, but they haven't given any price range just yet. The smartphones are also not expected to reach the US right away as it will make its first mark on other parts of Europe.
