League of Legends Update and News: Missions, Gameplay, and Strategy on Crossover Board Game Revealed

The new League of Legends board game named Mechs vs. Minions will be as exciting as its video game counterpart where the players test their strategy skills against each other. Players have to compete against each other as they complete all 10 missions.

According to League of Legends developer Riot Games, each mission will have an estimated 60 to 90 minutes gameplay, which shows that it will be filled with excitement and suspense like the video game. The only difference is that players will have to pit their skills and talents face-to-face.

League of Legends players have to choose from four different champions, namely Corki, Tristana, Ziggs, and Heimerdinger, maneuvering mechs as they battle an army of minions. The game requires cooperative gameplay but the creators did not mention whether it also employs group strategy, such as friends team up, like the video game counterpart.

Those who are looking for game elements, such as creep management, might be disappointed because the gameplay is more of a programmatic card game system where players wait for their turn. Players will draw from a deck of card with pre-determined movements and play them out during their turn. Thus, these cards will determine how the gameplay will go as the game unfolds.

The League of Legends board game also uses a stacking system where attack cards can be used with other cards to make the movements stronger and the attacks more lethal. Players should take note, though, that whatever moves they made before the previous turn are destroyed and they need to search for matching colors and pair them during strategic turns.

Riot also mentioned that players need to cooperate with each other in order to win a certain mission and defeat boss mechs. This cooperative strategy includes moves, like moving around some objects around the board game . What more, the shape of the map is also different each time players take on a new mission.

Mechs vs. Minions have 100 miniature minion figures, four painted mechs, acrylic shards, five game boards, dice, miniature power source, and other kinds of battle knick knacks.

The game will be launched on October 13 exclusively by Riot Games and costs $75.
