BioWare, only a few days ago, released the Extended Cut DLC for “Mass Effect 3” as a reply to the host of unanswered questions at the end of the original game.
And although the developers managed to answer a lot of question via the free DLC, we were still unsure if the figure in the ‘Destroy’ ending was actually Shepard or not. Now Tully Ackland, UK Community Coordinator for BioWare titles, has revealed that Shepard is actually alive in the ‘Destroy’ ending although the figure was actually him.
As per Ackland, “You may notice that in the “Shepard lives” ending, the love interest hesitates to place Shepard’s name on the wall, and instead looks up as though deep in thought. This is meant to suggest that the love interest is not ready to believe Shepard is dead, and the final scene reveals they are correct.”
So Shepard lives. But what does this mean? Whatever it is, the main question that now arises is whether BioWare will exploit that ending in order to offer a new DLC or not. Note that the company has already revealed that “Mass Effect 3” would be the end of Shepard’s story.
So are we set to see more ME games in the future with Shepard? Only time will tell.
