Marvel's Agents of Shield is back and they just recently premiered Season Four with "The Ghost."
As many of you might know, Ghost Rider is now part of ABC's Agents of Shield but it's not Johnny Blaze. The showrunners decided to go with Robbie Reyes, also known as "the other Ghost Rider." The latest incarnation of our favorite anti-hero is played by Gabriel Luna, who immediately made a strong first impression. But what else is different from the new season?
The Dark Side Just Became Harder To Resist
It's clear after the season premiere of Agents of Shields Season 4 that the series will be coming from a darker and edgier tone. What with the arrival of Ghost Rider ripping bodies apart like they're presents on Christmas morning, Daisy in her underwear, Mac and Coulson sharing bong jokes - it's pretty clear that this season is taking on a different route than the previous three. Working with the "Spirit of Vengeance" could also mean that the S.H.I.E.L.D agents will consult their moral compasses more often, what was usually good or bad can now be open to doubts and uncertainty as shades of grey seeps within their conscience.
Finally Branching Out
The first three seasons stayed within the realm of science. With Ghost Rider's arrival, Marvel TV is finally branching out towards magic and mysticism. The agents will cross lines they've never crossed before, learn new things, and discover things are not how they appear.
Agent of Shield will also have a new time slot, previously 9 p.m. ET, Agents of Shield will now air at 10 p.m. ET. This is due to the showrunners' wish to tackle and show a more edgier and riskier atmosphere for the new season, the new time slot gives them leeway to do just that.
