"This Is Us" is creating a buzz all over the world as it finally premiered last September 20, after almost 10 million views of the trailer that was released last May. Adding to that, there is already a big twist revealed during the pilot episode that changes the course of the series.

"This Is Us" Pilot Episode Reveals Big Twist In Series Storyline

In the trailer for "This Is Us" released last May, the story centers around the lives of people who share the same birthday - a pregnant Rebecca (Mandy Moore) lost one of her babies during birth and a sad but strong husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) stands by her side, a woman named Kate (Chrissy Metz) talking to his twin brother Kevin (Justin Hartley) about losing weight and a successful businessman Randall (Sterling Brown) searching for his biological father.

During the pilot episode, the connection among these five people was revealed, creating a big twist in the storyline. Apparently, a huge time-jump took place during the premiere. It turns out that Rebecca's twins are Kate and Kevin, all grown up now while Randall is their adopted son, after losing the third of the triplets at birth.

Dan Fogelman Talks About Twist In Series, And More Emotional Episodes To Come

In an interview with "This Is Us" creator, Dan Fogelman, he explains the timeline of the storyline and how it will go about. The coming episodes will be going back and forth to years after the pilot, then back to the pilot episode as well. The big picture of the story centers on the family, the challenges that they all go through together and as individuals as well.

The three siblings appear to have their lives on their own already, distant from the parents. However, Fogelman said that they are definitely not estranged from one another and this will be further tackled in upcoming episodes.

Fogelman also talked about how emotional the coming episodes can be, even mentioning specifically a speech that is to be made by Milo's character in the upcoming second episode. He even admitted to crying when this was shot, claiming that it will definitely be something the audience can relate to; beautiful and real.

There will definitely be a lot of mixed emotions to be felt as the series progresses and each of the characters face their everyday lives.
