NASA Socials Set for August 22-23 at Kennedy Space Center: Learn How You Could Take Part

Have you ever wanted to visit a NASA science center and hobnob with some of the brightest minds on the planet? How about not only visiting it, but being a part of a special event that will culminate in NASA's launching of a pair of Radiation Belt Storm Probes (RBSP) aboard an Atlas V rocket? If that doesn't sound too shabby to you, then read on.

Beginning July 5 at noon, and ending July 9 at noon, registrations will be accepted from which a lucky 50 registrants will be chosen to take part in the event at Kennedy Space Center. While there winners will be able to witness the launch of the RBSP's and visit the launch pad, tour the center, and meet NASA officials and other fans of the astronomical.

Surely there's a catch right? Well, there is, but it's nothing to fret over. In fact you should probably be doing it anyway if you have any interest in space, science, or the unknown. All you have to do is be a follower of NASA on social media sites, the majority of which are listed on this page.

You'll also be expected (or at least encouraged) to make use of those social media channels during your visit, by taking and posting photos, and tweeting and posting about your experiences at the event. That's not so bad is it? And if you're looking for more Twitter followers, nothing takes care of that quite like live tweeting from an event.

Unfortunately for some of you, this event is exclusive to U.S citizens (though other NASA Socials events may be open to everyone), with NASA citing the possibility that the events could take place in restricted areas as a reason for the limitation.

Note also that you'll be required to cover any expenses necessary to travel to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and while there (and as this is a 2-day event, that will mean at least one night you'll need to plan for). Your victory only gets you into the event, everything else is up to you.

If you're still undeterred and want to learn more about NASA Socials and register for a chance to take part, visit this page.
