After a series of delays, Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3 is finally coming on the Verizon Wireless on July 10, announced the nation's largest network provider Tuesday.
Meanwhile, other leading US network providers like Sprint made the Galaxy S3 available for in-store purchases from July 1, AT&T also has announced that it would be selling the phone in its stores from July 6. Now Verizon will make the highly anticipated S3 smartphone available on July 10.
"Galaxy S III customers will have access to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network which is available in 304 markets across the United States. Verizon Wireless 4G LTE will be in 400 markets covering 260 million people by the end of this year," the carrier said in a statement.
The Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3, which will sport a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM with 4G LTE connectivity, and an 8-megapixel camera, will be sold at $199.99 and $249.99 for 16GB and 32GB models respectively with a two-year contract. As of now, customers can buy only the 16GB model of the handset from both stores and online starting July 10, the 32GB model will hit stores in coming weeks, Verizon announces.
Other interesting features of the device include AllShare Play, Group Cast and Share Shot functions, S-Beam, S Voice and so on.
The Verge, however, says that it has received readers' information claiming that they have already received shipment notices from Verizon. If the report turns out to be true, S3 can arrive on the network in advance "for those that got their pre-orders in right away."
T-Mobile has already launched the Galaxy S3 in 29 selected markets on June 21. But, the network provider has postponed the in-store release of the device until June 29 with no specific release date. According to Motoring Crunch, the carrier has also increased the phone's price.
In another report from CNET, the tech website has confirmed that US Cellular and regional carrier C-Spire are also expected to get the phone in the coming weeks.
Samsung, meanwhile, claimed that sales of the Galaxy S3 could make a record by touching a whooping 10 million units by the end of July.
