Following the announcement of 2K's Mafia 3, currently, it was announced that the crime-fighting game will also have a mobile version. It will be known by its subtitle Rivals. Mafia 3: Rivals will be developed by 2K and Cat Daddy, the developer behind some of the puzzle and strategy games such as Evolve: Hunter Quest. Gamespot also added that Cat Daddy also worked with 2K upon developing NBA 2K and WWE 2K mobile apps.
IGN reported that Mafia 3: Rivals will be more of an RPG game rather than the third person open world gameplay of Mafia 3. The report said that the primary objective of the game is to fight your way through the world of criminals using RPG combat. In addition, players will be able to create their own crime syndicate in a variety of ways such as grabbing properties or defeating rivals and gangsters to name a few. IGN also added that Mafia 3: Rivals is a whole new gaming experience compared to its predecessor which highlights a classic shooter gameplay similar to GTA.
According to Gamespot, players will received surprise in-game bonuses upon doing a pre-registration on the Mafia 3: Rivals official website. The site also showed a couple of screenshots on what to expect of the upcoming mobile app. On the other hand, the console/PC version released a new trailer showcasing the different ways on how to earn money in the game. In addition, future post-launch DLC plans for Mafia 3 are now being considered by game developers. Based on the report, it will be a mixture of free and paid expansion packs.
