There was a reason that creator Ryan Murphy hid the plotline of the "American Horror Story" season 6. Apparently, that is because it is in a completely different format compared to the previous seasons. With two episodes having aired already, there is a lot more in store for the entire season.
Season Six Of "American Horror Story" In A Form Of A Documentary-Like Series
Season six of "American Horror Story" is in a form of what seems to be a documentary of a true story that goes back and forth in time. The series is played by an alleged couple, Shelby and Matt who purchased a haunted mansion in North Carolina. Much like any other true documentaries, it features the real people in the real story and another set of people for the alleged re-enactment of the crime or the events.
There are also characters to the series that act as the spirits back in the 16th century Roanoke Colony, hence the title of this season "My Roanoke Nightmare." Even though it is haunted and the couple would want to leave the mansion, they couldn't because they used up all their money to purchase the place, leaving them never being able to leave even if they wanted to.
"American Horror Story" Season 6 Mirroring First Season And Its Events Only In A Different Dynamic
The series has recently aired two episodes and by the looks of it, the show has gotten good reviews despite shifting their implementation of the horror stories.
Initially, the creators have kept everything about the sixth season of "American Horror Story" under the wraps to avoid divulging information that could spoil the dynamic of the entire series.
There are back stories being done throughout the entire season, bringing flashbacks to some of the events that transpired in previous intallment. Their stories could possibly be mirrored with the first season, since the events that have transpired seem to be relatable to its series premiere.
