Grand Theft Auto is undoubtedly one of the most popular and influential video games released in the market. Since its launch in 1997, the game has already spawned 4 other sequels, the latest of which was Grand Theft Auto 5 which was released in 2013. After three years, fans have been itching to hear when will Rockstar release GTA 6. There are rumors, however, that the game's developer will announce it soon.
The hype that GTA 6 are in the works started when a certain user tweeted an image with a hashtag #PSM. Prior to the tweet, there have been rumors circulating already that Rockstar will have a surprise appearance at the PlayStation Meeting event. Thus, many fans took the tweet as a teaser to that event.
However, Rockstar was a no-show at the event fuelling another set of rumors that the company has canceled its plans and will focus its efforts on developing and enhancing the current GTA5 game and their other games.
Some Grand Theft Auto 6 experts and observers, however, believed that it is unlikely that Rockstar altogether canceled their plans. Based on how Rockstar released the game, there is a 4 or 5-year gap between each GTA game title was released. Thus, if the company stays true to the pattern, GTA 6 will be available in the markets in 2018.
They also say that Rockstar needs more time to finish and perfect GTA 6. Currently, they have their hands full with Red Dead Redemption. Once the game is released, they will have their full attention to developing GTA6.
With this in mind, it is most likely that Rockstar will make the announcement about GTA 6 next year, specifically during the E3 conference. For now, GTA fans need to have a little more patience since Rockstar also didn't deny or confirm that they have any plans to shelve the GTA 6.
