Apple has finally released a bug fix for iPhone 7's EarPods issues with the iOS 10.0.2 update. The update is slated to improve the stability of Apple's mobile devices.
The iOS 10.0.2 update has been a much-awaited patch following issues in the past weeks affecting the wireless earbuds of select iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus units. As Apple stated, the latest iOS update was first released on Monday, Sept. 19 to address "an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working."
The said update was also released to other iPhone and iPad units to solve a handful of bug issues. There is nothing fancy about the minor update for other iPhone and iPad units, but of so much help for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners who have experienced technical glitch with the infamous Lightning EarPods.
The iOS 10.0.2 also comes with fixes to solve photo app crashes and app extension issues.
Earlier this week, many users have come forward to report their problems with the wireless earbuds. Accordingly, the controls on the wireless earbuds ceased to work after a few minutes of use. These controls work for answering incoming calls, changing volume of the audio, pausing playing music or talking to Siri. The Cupertino giant immediately admitted the problem and vowed to issue a fix for the glitch.
The problem, however, was "intermittent and random," Business Insider reported. This is not the first time Apple received complaints about their earbuds as the same problem was already present in the dusty old earbuds.
Apple recently took the tech community by storm with the release of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with wireless earbuds alongside. However, a review written by Hollis Johnson for Business Insider underscored that the audio quality brought by said technology fare well from the traditional one.
Johnson experimented by listening to the same music using the traditional and wireless earbuds. Per observation, sound quality of the new and old generation earbuds are relatively bad. He wrote, "That bass can get boomy, the highs often feel recessed, and there's a constant sense of fogginess that obfuscates finer details."
He also stressed the disadvantage that the new Lightning EarPods cannot be used in other devices.
