While some Nokia Lumia 710 and 800 devices are already getting the Windows Phone 8773 update — dubbed Tango – which is running out-of-the-box on the Lumia 610, the Finnish phone maker is already preparing to release Windows Phone 8779, via Navifirm.
Although we are not really sure as to what 8779 will offer, it is believed that support for the location-based alert icon will be one of them. But if the new update even slightly resembles the current Tango update, we may see features like Internet sharing, flip phone over to silence an incoming call and the ability to install exclusive new applications available in the Windows Phone Marketplace (Camera Extras, Counters, Contact share, and more).
The update’s regions are listed as being countries like Thailand, Pakistan, India, Lebanon, and Tunisia so it may only bring features which would improve the user experience in these markets. Other features like static-IP for WiFi and more SIM options may also be available are other possible options.
As for Tango, the OS update is unofficially available for the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 (nothing for the 900 just yet) and can be downloaded using NaviFirm Plus and flashing your device.
Note that although the procedure could be a bit tricky, it is legit and employs Nokia’s own methods, according to a WPCentral report.
